Cursor Comes to iPhone: Run Your Coding Agents From Your Pocket

Cursor's iPhone app went into public beta on June 29. It isn't an attempt to squeeze a code editor onto a phone: the app is really about launching and steering AI agents remotely. You describe a task by voice or slash command, the agent runs, and your phone pings you when it's done, needs input, or is ready for review.

In brief

  • Run agents from anywhere: launch a cloud agent or remote-control an agent on your computer. Voice task input and slash commands are supported, plus a setting that keeps your computer awake while you're away.
  • Real-time notifications: Live Activities on your lock screen and push alerts the moment an agent finishes, needs input, or is ready for review.
  • Cloud–local handoff: move a local session to the cloud for long-running work and pull it back to your machine to test; inspect diffs and merge the PR straight from the app.
  • iOS, all paid plans, beta: on the App Store. Datadog and Slack MCP integrations; 75% off Composer 2.5 runs through July 5, 2026.

Our take

On the phone, Cursor isn't a code editor but a control panel: you give the command, watch the agent, and tap approve. The clearest win is the on-call case — you can answer a 2 a.m. alert without opening a laptop. What's really happening is that the heavy lifting shifts to the cloud agent, and the developer's role narrows toward "kick it off and sign off." Cursor just moved that role off the desk and into your pocket.
